The Company focuses on providing equity capital and strategic assistance to early stage, growth, and pre-public companies to support their expansion. Onbelay Capital Inc is currently invested in over a dozen private and public companies and has had numerous successful exits.

About John K. Bell, FCPA, FCA, ICD.D, Principal:

John has a distinguished 40-year career of business success including executive management, corporate governance, financing and M&A. He believes in supporting the companies that he invests in, acting as an advisor or sitting the Board of Directors. He is Chairman of Stack Capital Group, a TSX listed company investing in late stage private companies. From 2014 to 2020 he was a BOD member and Chair of Canopy Growth and Canopy Rivers as they grew the company from pre-legal to the global leader with a market cap of $20B. He stepped down after a successful exit to Constellation Brands with their $5B investment.

He was the founder, owner, and CEO of Shred-Tech, a global manufacturer of shredding and recycling equipment and creator of the mobile shredding Industry. After selling Shred-Tech to a public company in 1995, he became owner and CEO of Polymer Technologies Inc. a global manufacturer of auto-parts; later served as Chairman and principal shareholder of BSM Technologies Inc. (TSX) a fleet management Company, and CEO and director of ATS Automation (TSX) with 23 plants global plants.

John provides support through mentorship and coaching to very early stage ventures and helps the future generation of entrepreneurs through his involvement as an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.

A believer in Community service, John has contributed to numerous organizations including Cambridge Memorial Hospital (Chairman), Waterloo Regional Police (Chairman), Waterloo Region Prosperity Council (Chairman), Crohn’s and Colitis Canada (National Secretary). He is currently a Governor of the Stratford Festival.
